2 main reasons why people hated their intern experience

These days, it is very popular to do internships. Parents, friends, teachers at university – literally everybody were convincing me that it is worth to do it as well as that it will be an amazing experience. Sadly, I was naïve enough to am convinced them , thus made a decision to do my internship during my holidays.

The selections process for the position was pretty rough. They checked my foreign languages and analytical skills. Thus, I was completely convinced that the internship will be something meaningful – probably I can have been too sure – I have to admit that I didn’t even ask for any details of the scope of future duties.

At that time I was just so excited with the fact that I got the intenrship offer, that I didn’t come up with idea to request important information. At that time it was ok for me to be familiar with the company in which I was going to do the internship in. At this moment I do know that it was quite a huge mistake. Unluckily, I think that this lesson was actually the only useful experience I learnt from this entire experience.

Previously I was convinced that during the internship I can learn that category of knowledge as well as skills which are transferable also to another similar position. Sadly, while doing this internship I was mainly conducting those tasks that nobody else was interested to do. I understand that somebody always gotta to do those stuff , but at the same time I would like to learn something useful during the intrnship.

Unfortunately, I didn’t. To be honest I learnt much about New York city and its surroundings as I was helping other employees doing the most boring things that they did’t wanna do. Ironically, I became familiar where to do cheap custom printing nyc or where to find best coffee in the town. But I don’t believe that this is the sort of knowledge I should gain as an intern.

Second, they didn’t pay me any stipend. I know that I was not a professional thus I don’t have any precious experience they might need, but I was still doing some things they would pay for their workers to do. Consequently, I really think that they should reimburse me at least symbolic amount of money. Only to confirm that they appreciated my commitment.
